A host of cowboy
poets and Western singers will roll into Heber City, Utah on Nov.
7-11, as the quaint mountain town, situated near Park City will
be the host of the Seventh Annual Cowboy Poetry Gathering & Buckaroo
Fair. Heber City is also the site of the Utah High School Championship
Rodeo held each year in June. Park City is also the site of the
2002 Winter Olympic skiing events to be held in Utah in Feb.
The Cowboy Poetry
Gathering has become a favorite of fans across the western United
States and will open on Wed. Nov. 10 with a Dutch Oven Cook-Off
and dinner followed by cowboy poetry and a cowboy music concert
on opening night. Waddie Mitchell, Don Edwards & other well known
cowboy poets will entertain fans during a ride on the historic Heber
Valley Railroad featuring a train ride through the Wasatch Mountains
of Utah while listening to songs and poems by the famous entertainers
aboard the Heber Valley Railroad.

and Don Edwards will headline a cast of famous cowboy poets and
western singers during their performance on Fri. Nov. 9. Baxter
Black will take the stage at Wasatch High School for a performance
on Sat. Nov. 10 and the Bar J Wranglers will perform on Sat and
Sun to complete the last of performers on the main stage.
Ogden western
singing sensation Brenn Hill will also take the stage and has been
a favorite of fans at cowboy poetry festivals across the country.
Chris LeDoux said, "The best new artist I've heard is Brenn Hill.
You just don't know him yet," during an interview in Country Weekly
Magazine. Waddie Mitchell also said Brenn Hill is one of the most
promising new artists in their circle of cowboy music.
Ernie Sites
is also back in Heber again this year and the singing cowboy is
a hit with fans of all ages. The Idaho cowboy entertains the crowd
with rope tricks, yodeling, storytelling, cowboy poetry and Western
singing. He has a song called Cowboy Boogie that gets the youngsters
going from the very start of the song.
Don Kennington
has had his poems published in a number of cowboy and rodeo publications
and he still earns part of his salary shoeing horses. Kennington
will bejoined by Andy Nelson and Joni Harms of Idaho and Oregon
respectively. Sam Deleeuw will give fans the female concept to cowboy
poetry as the Utah native takes the stage along with Heber resident
poet Jeff Carson.
The Cowboy
Poetry Gathering in Heber City, Utah also features the Buckaroo
Fair with a number of traditional western booths featuring merchants
from across the United States with authentic western items.
The event will
conclude on Sun. with a non-denominational Gospel Hour featuring
