The Mission Statement of Cowboy Ted's Foundation for Kids is: "To introduce young people to a positive Cowboy role model, who will encourage youngsters to choose a Healthy Lifestyle for themselves, including the choice to refuse to use tobacco products."
The Kids Club is the lifelong dream of Cowboy Ted, a popular radio personality in Salt Lake City, Utah. Cowboy Ted has hosted the Rodeo Round-Up on KKAT 101.9, KUBL 93.3, KGNT 103.9 and also the Cowboy Minute for the Radio Disney affiliate in Salt Lake. He hosted radio programs in California, Utah, and Missouri.
Cowboy Ted has been involved in the field of education, along with, broadcasting, journalism, and the sport of rodeo for more than 15 years. It is his dream to combine the passion he personally holds for each activity into one organization that is devoted to educating young people about the western way of life, the sport of rodeo, and healthy lifestyles, including the choice to be tobacco-free and alcohol-free.
Cowboy Ted enlisted the assistance of longtime friends and leaders in the sport of rodeo, along with, professionals from healthcare & education to form Cowboy Ted's Foundation for Kids.
The cornerstone of Cowboy Ted’s Healthy Lifestyles program is a set of 8-Healthy Concepts in reference to the 8-seconds required for a qualified ride in rodeo:
1. Respect Parents
2. Lead Healthy Lifestyle
3. Work Hard in School
4. Be Nice to Others |
5. Be Kind to Animals
6. Set Goals for Yourself
7. No Drugs, Tobacco/Alcohol
8. Do Something Nice for Another Person Everyday |
Since the program was introduced in 1999, Cowboy Ted and his friends have made visits to a host of Cancer camps, hospitals, schools, libraries and public events, to encourage young people to make healthy lifestyle decisions, including the choice to be tobacco-free. The credo of these professional cowboys and cowgirls is...Smart Cowboys Don't Use Tobacco!
The Goal for Cowboy Ted is to personally touch the lives of one million children in a positive and healthy way during the tenure of the Cowboy Ted's Foundation for Kids and Cowboys Against Tobacco (CAT) programs. He and his cowboy and cowgirl role models make visits to schools, kid's fairs, rodeo events, horse-related activities, libraries, and other popular events intended for kids. The hope is to set a positive example for a tobacco-free lifestyle |
