Utah will be the site for a Boot Camp for Rodeo Queens



If you want to learn more about what it takes to become a rodeo queen - then you will want to be in Ogden, Utah as Mesia (mee-shaw) Murphy will host the Boot Camp 2003 Rodeo Queen Clinic on Feb. 27,28 and March 1 in Ogden, Utah.

Murphy has hosted the boot camp for rodeo queens for a number of years now and has helped prepare a number of young ladies who have gone on to become rodeo queens in Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming and Utah. She will also have assistance from current state and national rodeo queens.

Students will be provided with hands-on training in the areas of horsemanship, appearance, modeling, interview, rodeo knowledge, public speaking, animal science and a host of other topics.

Presenters for the boot camp include former Miss Rodeo America, MiQuel Holyoak and the current National High School Rodeo Queen, Kendal Heiner. The reigning Miss Rodeo Utah, Ashley Kendel will also be on hand to offer advice to future rodeo queens.

The boot camp will feature instruction on etiquette, modeling, make-up, selection of outfits, interview preparation, equine knowledge, basic rodeo knowledge, photo shoots and horsemanship.

Following the workshops, the attendees will go through mock sessions for interview and horsemanship along with modeling and public speaking.

The cost for the queen clinic is $165 and includes meals, boot camp manual, video and photos. Coaches and parents can also sign-up for the clinic at a cost of $65 and includes meals and boot camp manual.

Past attendees include Kande Ellis who went on to win the title of Miss Rodeo Montana and Angie Burton who was later named Miss Rodeo Utah. Past presenters include former Miss Rodeo America Mary Shaw from Ogden, Utah.
