8-Steps to Good Health
1. Respect Parents
Respect has to be earned and a good place to start is with your parents.
Listen to your parents and show them respect and you will earn their respect in return.

1st Grade - Draw a picture of you showing respect and listening to your parents
2nd Grade - Write a letter to your parents and tell them why you respect them.
3rd Grade - Write a poem & use 8 words that are common for showing respect.
4th Grade - Write a one page essay of how showing respect can be good for you.
2. Lead a Healthy Lifestyle
Kids need 3 servings of dairy products for healthy bones, teeth, eyes and muscles. Dairy products include - milk, cheese-yogurt- ICE CREAM - Have 3-a-day Drink 6-8 cups of water everyday ~ Exercise 30-60 minutes everyday ~ Wash Hands.

Kindergarten - Draw a picture of foods that are healthy for you.
1st Grade - Make a list of the five food groups - list three examples for each group.
2nd Grade - Make a pyramid and show three example of each of the food groups.
3rd Grade - Keep a journal for a full weekend and list all of the things you eat.
4th Grade - Write a 1-page essay and list steps leading to a Healthy Lifestyle.
3. Work Hard in School
Read at least 20 minutes everyday and you will be ready for college or a career. Computer skills will also prepare you for college or a great job ~ Practice on computers.

Kindergarten - Tell us what you like best about school and why.
1st Grade - Make a list of ten books you like and circle your favorite.
2nd Grade - What is your all-time favorite book - write a paragraph about it.
3rd Grade - Choose one of CT' favorite books - write a 1-page summary of the book.
4th Grade - Draw an 8-page picture book/captions-show how computers are important.
4. Be Nice to Others
Being nice to others makes you feel good inside and makes the other person feel good. This is called mental and emotional health and if you feel good on the inside you will feel good on the outside too. Feeling good inside actually helps your heart & lungs work less.

Kindergarten - Tell the teacher about one way that you were nice to someone today.
1st Grade - Write letter to the Governor and tell them why it is important to be nice.
2nd Grade - Draw a picture of a time when you were nice to another person.
3rd Grade - Write a 1-page essay about the importance of being nice to others.
4th Grade - Write 1-page of how being nice to others can make you more healthy.
5. Be Kind to Animals
Do you like animals? Do you have a dog - cat - horse - fish or other animal? Does it make you feel good on the inside to spend time with animals? If you feel good on the inside - it will make you healthy on the outside too.

1st Grade - Write a short story of 2-paragraphs about you being kind to animals.
2nd Grade - Make a list of 10-reasons why it is good to be kind to animals.
3rd Grade - E-mail Cowboy Ted - tell how being kind to animals makes you healthy.
4th Grade - Look up Best Friends Animal Society on Internet - write 1/2 page report.
6. Set Goals for Yourself
A goal is anything you want to do in life and we try AS MANY AS IT TAKES. Remember when we set a goal of roping the bull? What are some other goals? You have to practice to get better at any activity in life. AS MANY AS IT TAKES!!!

2nd Grade - A goal is anything you want to do in life - list 5 of your personal goals.
3rd Grade - List three goals and what you will have to do to reach each one.
4th Grade - Write down a short, medium & long range goal - how will you reach it.
7. No Drugs, Tobacco or Alcohol
Drugs ~ Tobacco ~ Alcohol are unhealthy and damage your body. Remember that a real bull or horse will walk away from tobacco, alcohol, drugs. Just walk away from drugs, tobacco or alcohol. BE SMART COWBOYS/GIRLS.

3rd Grade - Write a letter to someone you know that uses tobacco - ask them to quit.
4th Grade - Write a radio ad - why it is important to avoid drugs-tobacco-alcohol.

Helping other helps you feel good on the inside and makes you healthy on the outside.
